RAs need not apply. I strongly believe that in order to create a self-sustainable community, we must individually take responsibility and lead by example. We hear a lot about “leading”, but instead we should leading by example. We must do things that encourage our peers to do the right thing. If I say: “I am going to refrain from drumming at 10 PM because I want to be respectful”, other people will follow the example. I have been saying this quite often: Do something. Do it well, and people will follow. Delegating tasks or coercing members of the community to do things, such as clean their space, contribute, etc. should be a last resort. If the dishes are not done, do them. If you want others to help, announce that you are doing the dishes and others will follow. Ultimately, everyone should be an RA, with equal responsibility and accountability.
